Forest School Winter update 2018
We are still loving Forest school and have learnt some lovely poems there.
This is one of them
Make me a tree, Lord, Sturdy, Deep Rooted, Useful. Support, to those in need, Shelter, to those who are weary, Fruit, for those who hunger. Make me a tree, Lord, Study, Deep Rooted, Useful.
It is starting to get very cold now in the forest and I have bought Sophia an all in one rain suit. Forest school closes through January and most of February so the really cold months we don’t meet. However I am sure we will take Sophia out in the snow in a snow suit to explore.
Sophia has really enjoyed forest school and so have I. As she has started to get that bit older, almost 2, her language has improved enough to understand some of the tasks and we have made painting using concers, a lantern with moss and bugs stuck around it, a bird feeder, a spider web, oh and probably Sophia’s favourite one was drum sticks. She has loved hitting everything with them at home and saying ‘my drum’. I have made some really lovely mummy friends and Sophia has enjoyed playing hide and seek with their children. I would definitely recommend forest school, we can’t wait to go back next term.
”They caught the wild children and put them in zoos, They made do sums and wear sensible shoes. They put them to bed at the wrong time of day, And made them sit still when they wanted to play. They scrubbed them with soap and they made them eat peas. They made them behave and say pardon and please. They took all their wisdom and wildness away. That’s why there are none in the forests today”.
